Here’s the official press release:

Innovate CV Partners with the National Union of Students

Innovate CV has partnered with the National Union of Students (NUS) to assist students and recent graduates in addressing current issues of graduate unemployment, as well as providing innovative tools so that students can utilise new technologies to increase their chances of securing a job soon after graduation. The number of 16 to 24-year-olds out of work has increased to 943,000, one of the highest figures since records began in 1992, giving a youth jobless rate of 19.8%.

Innovate CV  is currently working with job seekers and recruiters in every industry to provide candidates with the ability to create a multimedia online CV containing images, audio and video. The cutting edge technology allows a plain and basic Word/PDF CV or LinkedIn/Facebook profile to be automatically converted into a new-generation online Innovate CV in seconds.

The platform allows candidates to show more and standout from the crowd as well as increasing efficiencies for recruiters. For students the tool allows them to upload work samples as their work history is likely to be limited, and provides a CV template as well as advice for first time CV writers.

Focusing on the student community, Innovate CV has launched a new product providing accessibility and job networking through existing social networking websites. A Facebook application allows Innovate CVs to be created, edited and sent all within the leading social networking site. Candidates are able to use the Innovate CV platform to update their Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter news feeds and to easily share their Innovate CV within the respective sites. This means that one’s existing social networks can be utilised to help with a job search as well as an easy way to write and include references.

The NUS and Innovate CV will work together with students across the country running a number of regional workshops discussing a variety of graduate employment topics. These workshops will be facilitated by Lord Jim Knight in his role as Associate Director of Innovate CV. Lord Knight said that he is “delighted to be hosting such important events directly with students, and through the NUS and Innovate CV partnership, is looking forward to being able to see real improvements in graduate employment.”

These workshops will culminate at the end of March with a very large graduate recruitment event in London, in which speakers include Richard Allan, Director of Facebook, Fergal Sharkey, CEO of UK Music, Greg Dyke previous Director-General of the BBC and Aaron Porter, National President of the NUS.

The event will focus on how best to enter different careers and once started, how to progress successfully. Aaron Porter, NUS National President commented, “In such a financially difficult period, it is important that we do all we can to support students in their job search. We are excited to be working in partnership with Innovate CV, a company that offers a free service to students, and takes advantage of the latest technological advancements to assist job seekers.”

And as we mentioned, here’s the official flier! So check out the new app, and be sure to register for Student Rec 2011! It’s going to be huge – see you there!
